Maryland Wineries Join AAA South Jersey for the annual Northeast wine-tasting excursion. This year’s trip will visit both the Piedmont and the Frederick wine trails in Maryland. A short drive into the country leads you deep into the state’s agricultural heritage, where Maryland wine began and award-winning wineries thrive today. This area provides a vibrant landscape of rolling hills dotted with thoroughbred horse farms and nationally recognized wineries producing cellar-worthy reds and lively white wines. From the wineries in the lush countryside to Downtown Frederick, there is a wide selection of fine wines, warm hospitality and a glimpse of the ancient art of wine making. The variety of flavors available is as diverse as the wineries themselves. Many of the wineries are surrounded by many historic attractions ranging from Civil War battlefields to Revolutionary War era houses and antique shops. Also included in the itinerary is the historic town of Frederick, Md. More than 200 specialty shops, art galleries and restaurants can be found in bustling Downtown Frederick. From there, the trip will move on to Annapolis and the United States Naval Academy.
